Lifestyles of the Filthy Rich

Some people have the luxury of living the wealthy life. Spending too much when shopping is never a worry for these socialites. Not rich yourself, but like to keep up with the activities of the insanely wealthy? Turn on your TV for programming that depicts the real life splurges of the filthy rich.

Sweet Sixteen

Sweet Sixteen is an MTV series that focuses on the 16th birthday parties of spoiled rich kids, though sometimes 18th and even 21st birthday celebrations are depicted. The show centers around the weeks leading up to the event. Demanding diva teenagers audition performers, select designer duds, pick luxurious gifts, and hand out invitations in a dramatic way. When it's time for the big day, they make their grand entrance and shock their less well-endowed friends with opulent spectacles. Often, celebrity musicians provide the entertainment at these million-dollar parties. The show always culminates when the bratty birthday girl or boy is presented with their brand new ride.

Platinum Weddings

Only those with budgets of at least $100,000 are depicted on Platinum weddings. The show features brides who get to select designer dresses, lush floral arrangements, live music, and over-the-top venues. The program follows the bride as she plans her event, usually with the help of an expensive wedding planner. Cakes on this show come with jewels. Brides also demand fireworks, fairytale themes, and many other costly creations. Castles, beaches, and other fabulous destinations serve as backdrops to these extravagant affairs.

Wh0 doesn't want a huge diamond ring, brand new ride, and an opulent wedding or party? If you can't afford such an affair for yourself, you can at least enjoy watching someone else have their dream day. Grab some snacks and plop down in front of the TV to watch the filthy rich enjoy the fruits of their spending.
